However, my experience is that I am able to open and close a png file no problem no matter of image and file size until I decide to open or create another png file. Because of this, I have lost eight weeks import files that I had compiled before I realised this serious issue. I do not recall having the corrupt error on any other OS other than now on Windows In trial and error, It looks to me that the file's data is saved like a temporary file which can be accessed at anytime until you decide to open a new ms paint file.
Then this temporary file is over written or lost. Therefore making the main file inaccessible. I have attempted to recover files following user guides online from others with similar issues, like your link, and found the file would still not open or open as a blank white canvas with no data, even though the file size would indicate differently.
